Using JCF with your private foundation

It is not unusual for families with private foundations to establish individual donor-advised funds for each family member.  There are a variety of reasons for doing so:

  1. To give individual family members autonomy in deciding which charities to support, how to invest the assets, and whom to name as additional participants on the fund.
  2. To streamline administration by recommending grants online.
  3. To have more privacy and confidentiality than is possible with a private foundation.
